It's gone very tight. Winding it over its like the battery is flat. Tried winding over by hand with the plugs out & still no good.

Wow that's strange... making any funny noises, or got hot quick?
Wonder if there's a blocked oil gallery or something.
Other thing is to take all the belts off.. make sure it's not an ancillary item causing it.

Hi Steve
Lee and I had the same issue if you recall- tight when new. Larger battery cables, new battery and some time to run in fixed my engine and this was run on a dyno before I got it.
I take it he oil pressure was OK?
Best check with the builder in any case.

Checked all that. It was tight to start with, but what you would expect. This is dangerous tight. I have a feeling I know what is wrong & if I am correct someone is going to cop an earful that they will never forget as I told them about the potential for this to happen. Either way, I should know in the next day or so.

Speaking of engine work done in China ......

I was coming back to the factory a few years back, in a 4 cyl Chinese crap box, after a long day with our driver & manager ( & others ), when he drove in some flood water & the air intake gulped water & hydraulic'd the engine.

Next day I removed the plugs (we had been flat towed back to the factory) & pumped the water out. After winding it over for some time with the plugs back in it fired. Boy did it rattle .... 🍿

He then took it to his mechanic that looked after his taxi (you guys that have been up to DG seeing the way this is going yet? Poke ) & they pulled the engine down (in the car) & replaced 1 rod & piston.

Never did seem to run like it used to after that ...... :rotfl:

Sounds like a plan Barry. I can think of a few things we can do while we wait for them to grow some new pistons.

Not enough clearance on the skirts, pinched below the bottom ring. They do this if they are lean on forged pistons, Jags do it all the time, in 3.8/4.2 they tighten up real quick. You got to give them extra clearance, they grow alot.

Pull it out don't muck with dick heads, cut your losses put it in your ute and bring it up to Woody

No good mate. Time to put the nice guy away and bring out his angry brother. Good luck mate.
