It's so he can share engine and trans temp using the same temp gauge I think.

What hybrid said.. so i can use the same gauge. It already looks like a cockpit in there and its pointless to have another gauge for it (its the same gauge anyway..oil temp) when its just to check every now and then.

I dont know about clever. .this is now my 3rd attempt to post an update.

Ok so an update on my intake... i was suppose to do this with a family member before he died but didn't happen. .well for obvious reasons.. so has been on hold for a while. Finally motivated to revisit this again.

As mentioned the SC needed to be reclocked in order to free up space for 4in tubing to make its way out.

First a trip to kerrys to see if the airbox from a while back still fits..i suspected not and i was right. Since going a larger rad and fans not much room in that area. It would require modifying which i didnt want to do.

I know a guy who sells mandrel bent and cast tubing so he cut my a deal on some 4" alloy tubes. He lives next to hybrid. Because i was already nearby hybrid offered to assist in the same way he did his.

So it began... mandrel bent wasnt tight enough to come up around the SC and clear everything so 2 cast pieces did the job really well

First piece in.. courteous of hybrids 'jesus cuts".. eyeballed. Just prefect.

The goal

Second piece..another jesus cut.. at this point hybrid wanted to 'take it out' due to how good it just worked out

At this point hybrid decided to light up

Done..in only 2 jesus cuts!! Thanks hybrid!! Temporary discharge tube until i get my new bov.

Now the outcome. ..only slightly lower air temp (5degC). If it was NA you would see a big difference..but being SC'd there isnt too much difference but still definitely needed to be done.

Next.. 200amp fuse at the battery and alt because i replaced my alt wire and havent reinstated the fusable link (too small for my alt)

Was that lower temp after the engine got to operating temps on the road?

I ask as the couple I did ran like crap before I modded them as they were using stock Ford computers (5.0 EFI engines from 90's Mustangs in 65 bodies). Ran well when cold as the air intake was behind the rad. Once the car got to operating temps, they ran like crap as the computer did not know what to do.

Fitted them similar to yours & all fixed.

Yeah lower temps after operating temps
The stock computers have maf sensors there thats prob why. Mine doesnt. It runs better but the SC is generaring the heat regardless. The straight discharged tube to the TB seems to improved response.. unless im imagining it. Much more snappy.

Excellent work George and helper Hybrid. Great educated guesses on the tube cutting - very impressive. Good work getting this all done. Now bang the boost up to 20 psi + and run E85.

O what about that Nitrous bottle so you can set it up on that manifold that has support for port injected nitrous. You know that devil on your solder is talking to you again...... Laughing

The megasquirt ECU has an intake temperature adjustment curve that will change the tune depending on the air charge temperature. This is fully adjustable though really the curve is related to air density changes due to temperature. So in theory it will run fine regardless. In practice cooler is better but it will not run that badly.

That should be the other way boof, All i did was clocking the SC, the preliminary testing to make sure it was going to work and alot of starring at it. Hybrid is the star with his jesus cuts and welding.

Well now Ill have to start a new project thread regarding Port injection of some form :D. I've run out of room on the RHS of the engine bay so ill just "have" to look at port injection as its on the other side. Might as well cram more stuff into the engine bay...why not!

You know the snappiness might actually be coming from the colder air too.
Where is your IAT sensor located?
