Finally got around to wipeing up the firewall, and welding the dash back in, have also fitted an extra torque box and shifted the hand brake stuff to RHS under the floor. Dash will be wiped tormorrow, fire wall needs a couple of skims here and there, some seam sealer around the edges, & a high build but Ill do that when I paint the bay. Repaired and fully welded the shock towers as well. The rough look on the trans tunnel is factory, I actually hammered it up a little, in fact.

Good to see you are back into it. You staying black in the engine bay, or giving it some lime gold?

Think I'll just go black base and hardener, Steve and red oxide underneath. Been thinking hard about it, but chances are I won't clean it much underneath, so no point in doing it body colour. It's really tidy on the underside, I'm just going to sand it where it's flaking, re seam seal it and hit it with oxide. Haven't decided about the body colour overspray and black overspray on the floors yet. I know it's not an original type concour car, but I'm tending toward, the stock look on the underside, and bay albeit with a dressed up alloy head engine. It's growing on me, after cleaning it up on the bottom.

If you are going that way, might as well do the overspray and so on. It will complete the theme for not much more work. It is definatly a good bodied car.

Yeah Steeve that's what I'm thinking, so a part from RHD, some shiney engine stuff & wheels, etc the will look pretty stock & original, which is kind of what I was going for, a new 67 that someone tweaked a bit back in the day, alloy heads etc aside, I could paint them blue I guess but they look too nice raw.

I would still leave the heads raw & a bit of bling wouldnt detract from it anyway. Like you say it will look like a car that someone went hard out on back in the 60s early 70s. I know my car is a long way from that, but I do like that sort of style. Thats one of the things I like about Simons XP, it looks like it could have been built like that when it was new, until you start looking hard. It amazes me how many people ask if it is "original"

Been doing some body work. LH 1/4 is repaired and has a couple of coats of 2k epoxy etch

Stripped the LH door yesterday, still have to do the inside, paint came off easy as it only had the factory paint, it needed one small rust repair in the front corner, has a few small stone type dents through the centre. But a good straight panel, I gave a quick phosphate to stop it rusting while I strip the inside, I'll rebuild the hinge prime it and fitt it this week. Need to buy a nut -sert tool I had to remove one of the mirror nutserts to get it off.

By phosphate, do you mean phosphoric acid Shaun?
