Thanks mate.

Did you see there's another one on evilbay?
cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-A...43a1e6907b

Says it needs a rebuild though.
Did you work out jbidwatcher?

Yeah saw that one mate. I am in no real hurry though so I will give that one a miss. I'll keep looking though as it seems to be every few weeks a new one comes up on evilbay and I need a new wiring kit so I will spend the money on that instead for the meantime.

Hybrid, Do you remember what size the thread on the caster bars was? Is it 9/16 UNF?
I'm also going to extend the length of mine. How much extra did you go? Are you going to make the sleeve to go over the threads the same length as the original turned down section that was on the caster bar before you extended the thread?

Yes, from memory it was 9/16 UNF.
I went 50mm past the original stop.

I was either going to make the sleeves the same length as the original flat section, or measure the length of the two rubbers side by side and go slightly shorter to allow for some squash.

What is the size of the original? We forgot to measure that before we spun up the second bar.

Hi Hybrid
Great work!
What exhaust are you planning on running? Reason I ask is that your power steering ram may need a block to space it away from the chassis rail to give the clearance needed for some headers (Hooker super comp for example). Would be a great time to fit one while access is a breeze.
cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,
I have seen the ram lowering brackets.. maybe I'll get one.
I actually can't remember what my headers are, but they aren't shorties - they are full length ones.
There's a fair chance I'll need to lower it.

The length of the original turned down section behind the thread is 2 1/2 inches.

Make the spacer tube 1/8 shorter to start with.

Shaunp, will we need to run nyloc nuts or use locking nuts to prevent the nuts from coming loose and moving?

The front one is a "cone loc" nut, the new inner nut will be locked up against the spacer tube & the all tensioned to about 60lbs at least (spanner on fore & aft nut tensioning against each other).

That was not a hyjack as the question was very relevant. Thumbs Up
