Heater A/C continued .......

I had cut the heater box to remove & modify the evap, so it needed a new lid.

I made one that also doubled as a mount that went into the original heater mount holes on the firewall ........

It will be glued to the plastic heater box & is insulated. The firewall will also get a thin aircraft style insulation, that is why the studs are 1/4" UNC X 3/4, same as the original heater. When finally mounted I will use the same pal nuts to mount it, keeping the "factory" look ......

Heater area of the firewall now has all the non -necessary holes filled. Here being test fitted .......

You continue to surprise me Kerry, im still in awe of your thought and skill you put into these cars. But i do wish you had done and documented this 65 RHD conversion 5-6 years ago i may of done a few things differently. Im looking forward to seeing the mirrored dash cluster conversion come together.

Thumbs Up

Heater panel showing the inside insulation ......

Glued in place .......

Test fitted in situ under the dash (note the PAL nuts that will be holding it on) ......

Plenty of room for the demister ducting to run ......

Who would eat them?

I will someday think of something clever to say.

So while I wait for George to come & take us to dinner, I kept on with the conversion ..... Impatient

The wipers. To make the wiper arms sweep the opposite way & park correctly, the following is done;

Remove the clip holding the arms to the center link, remove the arms (remembering which side they are on), then remove & rotate the center link 180 degrees (that way it will "park" on the opposite side). Pic shows center link rotated .......

Next is to bend the stop tabs flat on the arms. I will make new tabs for the opposite side later ......

Then swap the arms from side to side ......

I will now drill the motor mounting bracket off from under the dash, bolt the motor to it & refit to the RH side using temp fasteners until I have the whole unit working correctly. For that John, I need the wiper switch & the old under dash wiring harness ....... Poke

Firewall continued.

Finishing off the left side ........

Now for the center section ......

Working out what to stretch & what to shrink ...... Shrug

Big hammer & block needed .......

Taking shape ......

Ready for some final cutting to size & shape adjusting .....

Tacked up ready for welding ......

Final fit before welding .....

Working out where the heater hose holes go .....

Welded, I use oxy/acetylene for this process as I can hammer up as I go. The MIG welding process is too hard a weld for hammering (as is TIG in most cases). Note, heater holes punched & flared. ......

Temporarily back in place, will leave it not welded until the wipers are completed .......
