POLICE BLITZ MELBOURNE
Does anyone know anything about a mass blitz in Melbourne next weekend at some car show? Just got word from a mate that there will be a blitz at a car show targeting modified, classic & muscle cars as well as attending everyday family cars just driving to and from the show for frayed seat belts, tyres (the full house)
Wasn't told what show it is but would be nice to confirm and get the word out if that's the case.
Just giving the heads up

If anyone knows anything, can you post up what you know

What shows are on next weekend

Spread the word people and be safe.

Regards

IMO, it is a wild rumour.

1st, they would not announce it beforehand.

2nd, most police would not know what they are looking at, so it would be the rego authority (whatever that is in Vic) that would carry it out, the police would only be there as a backup.

All cars would be safe if they comply with rego standards inc having engineers report for a modified vehicle. Again IMO it is purely scare mongering.

Fellas,
Kerry is correct in saying that they (VicPol) don't telegraph their moves and generally the intel manager confirms with the LAC 24hrs prior to an operation to ensure that people are not warned and info is leaked.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Cops not knowing anything about cars doesn't stop them in NSW.
I was fined in my rotary escort (probably because he couldn't find anything else to harass me for) because my exhaust pointed to the road.

It didn't matter that any bus that has a low exit from their exhaust does the exact same thing, as do MANY diesel vehicles.

They can be a little odd over here too.
A mate was asked if he had a permit for the turbo on his Charger, the young cop asking was pointing at the alternator. The older cop just shook his head and smiled then called his young partner to one side for a chat.

Sorry but I fail to see how they can book you if you are in a muscle car that has not been modified beyond the limits.

Although I agree that the limits have now become blurred ??

Would be nice to know how many muscle cars got pinged if any ?

Also, that looked like the event was being held at the Rocklea showgrounds up here in Brisbane ???

Note: the XXXX (Four x) shed .....doubt that would be down south.

Pretty sure it was at Rocklea.

Drink

Agree it was in Queensland. Also they were bogans, not muscle car enthusiasts.

They will find something to get you for if they really want to.
There is no court process. There is no way for you to argue your case. You're guilty until you are able to prove otherwise.

Yep had the one of the local Sarges boast to me one day that he could defect a brand new car if he wanted to. All he has to do is pull out the seatbelt and if it doesnt retract in a time he likes bingo you cop a canary.

the worst thing Joe Public ever did was allow the feds the right to issue on the spot fines without a fight......

When did we allow that to happen?

The constitution still says that fines are considered void/unlawful when issued without a conviction, so they really shouldn't be able to do it without a court case.
