Looks FABULOUS Mike.

Can't wait to see it painted.

This is the fun part of a restoration.

My inside quarter panel trims are vinyl wrapped so will get them recovered / vinyl painted to match

Try the VHT vinyl dye on them before u go to the trouble of upholstering them.
I changed from green to black and u would never know.
Was very happy with the result.
No peeling/flaking.
Just use a scourer to rough them up beforehand.

BTW.....nice progress !

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately the bottom leading edge / corner is damaged and will need to be recovered anyway. Nothing too big so will likely practice with the VHT first.

Yeah thanks For the quick responses to the messages Tim. I remembered I have a brand new set of parchment sun visors so going to drop them off tomorrow morning and they will just colour match to them.

Will be getting them to do the interior colour on:
The front face of the dash
The inside of the window pillars
The inside of the A pillars
Inside of both doors

The doors are white/parchment up to where the rubber seal glues on, rest of the frame is exterior body colour.

Kerry, can you confirm from factory, they painted interior first? I found some intetesting colouring yesterday when cleaning up my car for nationals. Its a little more tricky to see due to the colours on my car.

It looks like the ends of my dash were body colour, painted over the interior colour. Body colour extended down into the gap between the pilar and side of dash (not show)

Cannot confirm, but I believe the interior was painted last (the engine bay was also painted after body colour). Makes sense as the floors etc were always covered in exterior paint.

Have a look at any "original" cars that may turn up on the weekend. Yours could have had a paint fault & was sent back to the paint shop, or more likely had a touch up over the years. If thinners takes the paint off, then it is an acrylic touch up from a body shop.

My car had some lime on the dash that must have been over masked incorrectly on the drivers side, would mostly been covered by dash pad though like Tim's 68. Certainly the inside was painted after the car as was the bay, as there was lime under the black.

When you say "up to" do you mean all around the sides and along the bottom for the door seal... I presume along the top edge it goes right up to the edge for the window seal / felt

Just out of curiosity... If it is available for me to pick up on Thursday then it will be fresh off the gun so to speak (well, out of the oven) so how long should I be waiting before I start doing anything such as door handles, taillights etc that touch the paint? Last thing I would want is to be stressing fresh paint that may not be 100% hardened...

Do you know the brand of paint?

Sikkens... From the same guys that brought you Intergard 269

They also only use Wurth Seam Sealer & Cavity Wax

Sikkens autobody classic is wickered primer it is very high solid, builds well. The Sikkens dealer in Brisbane can also cross referance all the mustang colours no trouble.

The colour change is in the middle of where the door seal glues on, so it cannot be seen. That allowed for quick masking.
