We now have the engine dummied in the engine bay. I am still tossing up weather to use the engine mounts or make an engine plate. Mounts are easier but using the plate will allow a few tower mods to make more room for some nice extractors. There isnt alot of room with the big block jammed in. The donk also has an AOD bolted to it, I am looking forward to see how well it holds together Very Happy

The updates will be a bit slower from here on as we have to do the work. Waiting on the heads to arrive & then I can make the rest of the decisions regarding the engine bay lay out. A lot has happened since the day it arrived & there is still plenty to do. Should be a beast when its finished. There is plenty more pics of it in my photo bucket.

These pics are precious information for me as im only days away from converting my dash on my 67 vert , and firewall down the track a bit. My 66 was very different.
Keep em coming !!! Very Happy

A man of your talents will find it a breeze. There is more pics in the photo bucket in the Hellanor album for reference. Also anyone with any questions feel free to fire away. The thread so far is more of a picture book as I am a fairly lazy typist. Copying the thread over from MOCA is a bridge to far for a computer gymp like me.

Decided to go with an engine plate. Bolted up the accessory stuff to check clearances. Probably take a few weeks to get the plate made. Would have used the block of wood but it wont work with the balancer :rotfl:

It wasnt cheap, but by the time I had of gotten all new altenator, P/steer pump & a/c compressor & chased up brackets & pulleys etc this worked out more cost effective. Plus it looks nice & is all designed to work together. With this car given the amount of stuff missing when i got it there was no cheap options whatever way I went.

Must of been a killer cost Steve , i can see you cant even afford to give the block a lick of paint mate! And what do you need a balancer for? that wood looks like it is balancing the motor nicely.

Good work mate!! Thumbs Up

Steve
Great read, thanks.
Did you use normal fibre-glass on the heater box? if so, any special prep to the box before hand?
Oh, and the engine plate, how will that work?
Cheers
Jacko

On the heater box it is just standard fibreglass. You can buy fibreglass repair kits from most automotive places. Thats all it is.

The engine plate is basicly a big alloy plate the will bolt behind the water pump. There will be 2 mounts on the chassis rails forward of the shock towers. The plate & the mounts will join with a bushed joint. I am not very good at explaining that sort of thing, pics will come Very Happy
