Well a 4 speed with a 4.11 is not great - even at 80 kph the engine is spinning pretty fast. I could change the diff gears, but I like the acceleration and being able to lope around in 4th at any speed.

So a Gear Vendors may be the go. Yeah actually, I forgot you need to remove the rear toploader housing.

Either an OD or a 5 speed. Not sure yet. I think the price will be similar if I go a new T-5 or TKO.

I have a Hurst shifter currently.

Cheers,
Frank.

Vertical Gate? The Aussie Renegates are even better.

Cage, don't forget you will need pump/lines/brackets/pullies too.

For a low-cost pump , just get a reco Saginaw mated to a Ford bracket.
That's what I have now and it works great.

If you have more $ , then get one of these March billet pumps :

Ford bracket off an early falcon, or EFI Falcon? Does it put the pully in the right spot, or does it need a bit of messing about?

I have your order here too, Frank, when your ready.

The bracket I think is the stock one that is modified. I can check.
the pulley is in the right spot - no messing about - a bolt-on.
When I sent my old pump in they said it was about half price to go with the Saginaw, so I went that way. when I got it back I assumed it was my old bracket made to suit. Was a simple install, so I didn't check. Might be an early Falcon one they replaced mine with.

I got your message re. my order and sent you a PM.

Cheers,
Frank.

Is not the mounting bracket welded? I wanted to purchase one for my 65 though I was always concerned with the welding of steel plate to the cast iron box. I have talked to local authorities and they could not give me a definitive answer on its legality in AU.

I still would really like to do this conversion - Is this an issue or not?

I will someday think of something clever to say.

Guys,
Below is the info I have from them via emails. I am happy to go back to them to see if we can get a discount for a group buy. From what I can tell they are for automatic transmission only but I am no guru.

67-70 P/S Conversion Kit #999021 $996.02
68 Tilt Ididit Column chrome finish #1300644020 $639.14

All in USD

Just ordered this stuff through Summit Racing and it is cheaper than buying off Borgeson direct for exactly the same stuff. Also used the 15% discount code that Frank70 posted (owe you a beer Frank Cheers )and you little beauty.

New prices are
67-70 P/S Conversion Kit #999021 $726.24
68 Tilt Ididit Column chrome finish #1300644020 $543.96

Saved $365.00. 😂 Merry Xmas

1.00 AUD = 0.991207 USD would have helped as well, probably got .95 for your AU$

Hi Guys, I see this conversation goes back a couple of years but wondering if anyone is able to update me on the Borgeson kits? Has anyone actually fitted one? Is there an Australian distributor?

All the best,
Mal

Hybrid is correct. RHD generally used the XF box (or another option is the Ozbilt approach with the TCP power rack). In either case make sure you have an engineer that will sign off on the approach/work.

As far as the Borgsten is concerned, it has been a while since I looked closely at them, I understand there is/was an AU importer of the boxes. I cannot remember who. I still could not get a guarantee of legality in AU due to the welded mounting bracket. It is a cast Iron to steel plate weld which is difficult to get right - I have not found any issues reported, and many are being used in the US, so my confidence would be high. I would think to be strictly legal here you would need to get the weld tested/xrayed and certified. Having said that everything I have found was positive as far as the product is concerned. Mind you I would do further research for your own confidence level..
