Hi Guys,

my car was repainted (acrylic) about 2 years ago now and i have always been annoyed by wrinkled paint around the drivers side door handle- looks like door handles were refitted onto fresh paint.

Is there a way to rectify this or does it involve respraying the door.
Can the paint be heated to be a little pliable and then refit the handle or will it most likely crack and look worse....

thanks

Rob

Put up with it as it involves repainting. So wait until something else needs doing as well.

How sure are you that it is acrylic? If done in the US it is hardly likely.

Hi,
i was told it was done in acyrlic as opposed to 2pack - Obviously it is metallic with a clear coat.
I have remainder paint tin at home will check.
It was a "mexican" paint job- no offense to anyone.

I do not know whether that information helps...

I would bet it is "acrylic enamel" as that is what the one day auto paint places in the US use. At least that is what they call that stuff.

Does Acrylic enamel = Acrylic as we know it.

thanks

Quick answer = no.

Acrylic enamel is a 2 pack (well actually 3, main paint color, reducer and activator (also called hardener). Then a clear coat if a metallic as yours is.

Others with more knowledge can chime in here. Paint has never been my forte (or interest)

www.mustangtech.com.au...pid=6.html

Different names used everywhere..

But in that article, Lance mentions
Baked enamel or two Pak.
Alkyd Enamel (Spraying Enamel for the Novice).
and
Acrylic Lacquer

Acrylic Lacquer being Acrylic as we know it..

And just add to the confusion.. what is Epoxy and Urethane based ?

Hi Guys
, had a look at the remaining paint-
Brand Prospray- acrylic basecoat
medium solids
Prospray number BR68086BC

no other information.
Went to their website - i think it is used with a activator . Meaning it is a 2 pack type paint?
Sorry to harp on it but i like being informed ....

cheers

Rob

Correct, 2 pac paint. Acrylic enamel. Probably a "one day auto paint" type product.
