You can just cut the two hoses running to/from the heater and then block off all the ends, but then you will also need new hoses with your core.

The other way but it is a bit more fiddly is to disconnect both the hoses from the heater box and pull them out of the firewall. Then disconnect one hose from where it connects under the hood and put it away somewhere safe. Then route the second hose around so the end that was plugged into the heater box now connects under the hood where you disconnect the first hose from. So your just forming a loop to circulate the water back around and through the radiator and you can reuse the hoses with your new core.

Hope that makes some sense.

Remove both heater hoses from water pump connections & replace with a length of hose in a loop. Make sure you let out any pressure from the system before undoing hoses. ALWAYS replace heater hoses when replacing heater core.

As said above, cut the existing hoses off at the firewall, redirect the hose from the water pump back into a loop.

When replacing a new heater core, replace the hoses at the same time with new clamps even if the hoses look new.
