Hey guys,

Ok a little premature to ask but my car is on its way finally.. so im just going through my plan and doing some more research for answers.. and i had a question about wheel offset.

Im looking at Coy 67's (cheaper option) or American Racing Shelby Cobra .. both look similar.

Id just like to understand what the figures mean

American Racing
17" x 8"
Offsets: +0, -12, -6

17" x 9.5"
Offsets: -12, -38, +6

Coy 67s
17 x8
Backspace: 4 3/4

17x9
Backspace 5.5
++++++++

What im after is a deep-dish look for the rear hopefully 275s .. will a 17x9.5" or 17x9" fit on a fastback ? and if so out of the above combinations which offset or backspace would suit the "look" im after with a standard configuration rear end (can flare the rear guards if required)

The pics on the classicrecreations website use 17x11's!!! on the rear but im pretty sure its modified to fit that.. i dont want to go to that extent.. im happy to go with the max i can fit with a standard rear config.

Theres a link somewhere that has an entire listing of wheel size and what fits on mustangs etc.. and im pretty sure 17x9.5 (or 9) was the max with 275s for the rear.. i cant find the link at the moment

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

actually just found on another site a guy has the same american racing shelby cobra wheels with the following:

"These are the wheels we are using
18X11 with a 6.5" back space Rear
17X8 with a 5" back space front

This is the tire were using

275/40/18 Rear 245/45/17 Front "

the pic from the rear looks awesome .. im not sure what the 18x11 and 17x8 looks like .. wouldnt that look funny with different rim diameters front and rear?

EDIT: however i dont see a 18x11 option on their website for this wheel .. just 17x11 .. i mite stick with the 17" combination

i just love that look... 17x11 +315s

with a 17 x 8 we use a 4.5 or 4.75 for the front, on the rear 17 x 9 and a 275 tire we go with a 5.5 backspace. 9.5 with leaf springs is pushing it.

ahhhh thanks for that. i meant to ask steve if that had leaf springs but i think he has coils ..

do you have any pics of a rear end with 17x9 with 5.5 backspace and 275 tire to see what it looks like.. yes .. im hungup on getting a nice "deepdish" look without modifying my car from standard (leaf springs etc)

Yeah that looks pretty good.. thats the chromed one isnt it. And what brand tires are on those and are they the 275s on the rear.. they look FAT .. i noticed theres also a massive price jump from 275s to 315s tires (US prices).. so perhaps i should stick to 275s for the rear anyway

Stay with the 275, unless you plan on doing a mini tub. The tires are B F Goodrich kdw and yes they are chrome. We are just getting some installed on a car that is going your way.

Yes mine is a TCP rear, by no mods I meant the body apart from the wheel arches being rolled. The E flare doesnt give any more room than stock. It has 285 rear tyres, but 305s would romp it in. When I go for rear tyres next I will probably try a 315.

I will bolt my rears to Cages car & see if they fit, it still has the horse & cart set up in the rear at the moment.
