Only had time for a quick look this weekend.

I couldn't fault anything in the lights/bulbs/towing harness etc.

might have to take it to an auto elec....

Cheers,
Frank.

Gee Moe.

You caught me ...

Yeah, had a quick look . Couldn't fault anything. Will need to dig deeper or take it to an auto elec.

Had a busy weekend , so only had time for a quick look. also not sure what symptoms persist ... seems to only play up at night when lights are on. I guess that kinda implies there is something with the lights.

Cheers,
Frank.

Is it when the brakes are on too? Does the car stop when the brake pedal is released? or just restricted to park/tail lamps.

Hi Mark.

All the weird stuff happens when my foot is on the brake.

ie. the park lights come on even though the light switch is off.
and/or the car keeps running when you turn off the ignition with the brakes on *AND* the headlights on. Switching the lights off kills the engine.

Weird.

I should try and make up a matrix of what works/doesn't work and under what conditions.

Cheers,
Frank.

Mate , head straight for your rear lamps & check the globes in the park/brake locations. 1 of the globes will be a single filament, single contact (meaning 1 lead looking contact on the base & the bayonet pins will be parallel) - it shouldn't be. The brake/tail lamp globe holders will have 2 contacts inside them that you can see & reverse/indicator will only have 1 contact. Either your trailer wiring has suffered trauma & park/brake circuits are joined together (red for brake , brown for tail) or you have the incorrect globe fitted to 1 of your lamps.
Yoink ya finger out & go & have a quick look (or I'll humiliate your son on COD4 MW2). 10 minute job

Thanks Mark.

I will ... but the wife has the car and isn't home from work yet.

Cheers,
Frank.

donoauto, the longer it plays up, the more likely the upgrade to an XR6 turbo... I sense a plan in motion!

Actually I think I prefer the G6E turbo ....

Will have to do it tonight - the handbrake got back late and it was getting dark outside.

Cheers,
Frank.
