Hi All,

Just after some info on diffs:
1. Can you buy limited slip centres for 83/4 diffs
2. What model 9" fits a 67 coupe with out major work to be done

Thanks in advance

Gator

i am pretty sure you can get a 67 or 68 mustang 9" that will bolt in... i'm sure they were available.

and yes, i am also sure you can get stock posi-track diffs too. on the tag instead of saying 3.00 they said 3L00. same for different ratios.

not easy to find, but were available.

There is no major work in any 9" conversion.

Buy a 9", weld your axle tubed to the 9" pumpkin, and refit your axles. Should cost about $400 plus seals/bearings.

Yes you can buy new LSD centres for 8" diffs. If you make your own 9" you need to make sure you get the pinion angle correct, or it won't hook up and you can get tailshaft vibe.

Oz diffs on the Goldcoast keep LSD new kits. David Keeys Toploaders in the US have them ready to go 100% new parts.

I went to BossKraft, Sean got me a '67 9" housing out of the states, no messing about with tubes or pinion angles.

Craft Diffs checked it for straight and I bought a local centre and new set of Richmond gears through summit and whoopee, does everything right, worth the short wait and all standard ford bits fit.///

I had an Auburn 3:25 posi put into my 8" diff. It's a nice smooth street setup. Of course if your going for big power a tru trac or locker is super tough.

Got a LSD centre in my 8 inch diff, and put 3.55 Richmond gears in it, real nice but it made me have to buy an overdrive unit. Damn bad bit of luck.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the feed back.

I have been in touch with Aussie diffs on the Gold Coast and they can supply brand new Yukon LSD centre for $575 and wheel bearing / seal kit for $165.

I have yet to contact Sean from BossKraft to see what he wrangle up, but my next question is how rear wheel HP can a 8" diff handle ???

It depends on how you use the power & what sort of grip levels you can produce. 450 to 500 HP on the street & the 8" will cope fine. Throw on a sticky set of shoes the back & launch it off a surface coated in VHT & seeya later diff. A standard 28 spline 9" will also suffer with similar treatment. Maximum tourque is more of a concern.
