Soooo how did you make the rocker narrower?

Nope. Made the pillars fit the rocker. So the car will be a tad wider than stock ........ Very Happy

Nice, wide body mustang. Thumbs Up Snigger

OK I'm moving through the grieving process of seeing my car looking like this, this shot was a few weeks ago:

Lots of happy thoughts, 'my precious' moments, carressing the cool shit I've collected that will end up on the car and some serious reflection on the look I'm trying to achieve have helped.

The car left the factory back in October '64 in wimbledon white with vinyl red trim which I want to keep as a tribute to when it came off the ford assembly line but, with subtle upgrades.

Plenty of Shelby GT350's clones around, which I like but not what I'm after.

So therapy has been researching a lot of white restomod 65 mustangs. Here are some I've been drawing some inspiration from:
You can't go past Edsell Ford's 17th birthday present in late '64, a K code 1965 mustang fastback (I like the pearl paint, stripes and Euro side view mirror location):

Here's another with crimson stripes which work with white rather than the bright red ones they had for the '65/66 GTs

And the Pure Vision's what if Ford/Martini racing collaboration 'Martini T5-R' complete with 60's Ford Lotus Indy motor.

I really like the front valance here, rather than the variations on the 350R scoop on this car, less the rally lights of course. So might test OzBilts creativity here.

Cool back story on the Martini car, if you are interested check out:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFPLXdmamPw
Pretrolicious make some good films too!

And counting car's TV show Galaxie 500 Xl lightweight clone

Thinking of a super bright white, like I've seen on a Toyota GT-R or Dodge SR-T or possibly a Pearl if I can find one that does not look cream. Lots of silver highlights covering some but not all of the chrome. Any way that's the thoughts at the moment.

I really like the Ford/Martini car (that never was) & really like the lower front apron. With a few minor changes, it will look great on John's car. I also like the outer driving light position & the smaller flashers.

The stripes on this one that John has picked out look great too .......

The single stripe on the Edsell Ford FB makes it look wider and cleaner.

Still prefer the Martini stripes on white myself.

Cheers

The Martini car is nice, different without being radical. It is a shame that a number plate will stuffit up, what are your options there?
Pearls may look nice but will be an issue if you need any repairs in the future. And my personal favourite is the Galaxie.
Thanks for the pics.

License plate can be mounted on the lower part of the bottom air intake as I will slope that intake so it catches air. Same as George (gbx78).

As for the Martini car, I would attach it to the hood (bonnet) just like the Pommy rally cars (make it a decal).

Another option is having the plate mounted from the front bumper on a piano hinge. At speed it is pushed up, not exactly legal, but I have done a few that way before, but not saying if here or the USA ...... Wink2

Agree with the pearl, John & I have had discussions about that & the benefits of being able to brush touch up a scratch on a solid colour ........ Poke

The Galaxie is also an old favourite of mine, must be an age thing nassi ...... Embarrassed

I like both so a combination is fantastic - the front mods like the Martini and the rest like the offset strip car. Very cool.

Noted: You old boys like your low riders Poke

Love that Martini car. Love everything about it. I so need a front spoiler on my car.

I am torn on the offset stripe. Big fan on them on the BMW's and European cars, and while I am certainly not one to care about what should or shouldn't be done, on a mustang I am not sure.

The whole concept you are going for Borgche is very cool. I am looking forward to watching this one.

I once painted a car with the go fast strip going almost corner to corner. Now that is an offset stripe..... my mate at the time had no idea what I was doing when I masked it up.
Those were the days - I wonder if I have a photo.... not likely I guess.

I half thought I was going to be run out of town with my crazy new ideas, so the response makes me feel i'm on the right track.

Boof in my experience mind altering substances gets you celtic art or something like this:

cool ..but...not quite right..

Anybody suggest a cool white then.
