Anyone care to recommend a brand and / or model of roller rocker for the 390? And reasons why?

To set the scene, the plan is a mildly tuned torquey road engine; Eagle SCAT stroked 431, COMP K33-422-9 HYD roller cam kit, Holley 750, , PO-leese interceptor manifold & either CJ or FPA headers, pretty STD OEM smog heads (TBA 😏 ). From past good quality builds with that formula it should give around 400+ hp & 500 ft/lbs.
Its a lovely big torque motor with a nice idle that will launch far better than my tyres will manage, and can look fairly standard. So its my kind of build...

Its not a race engine by any means, however the rollers would not be wasted...

Have my list of available kits; (Crane, Harland Sharp etc) but appreciate some who've gone there before may have some views, other brands and / or advice.

Please understand I'm not looking for a 20 page argument about why someone else's build is better than mine, just hoping someone can shed light on the roller rocker bit!

Thanks in advance.

Survival motorsports used Dove 1.76 rockers in our motor.
These must be pretty good quality as they are blue ;-)
Best I have sorry for arguments

Thanks for that, another brand so all good. I'll check them out.
If Survival use em, cant be all bad.

UPDATE; had a look. Very nice stuff that Dove makes. ALL of it! I do like their rockers, even though they are the most expensive I've seen so far. About $1K USD for the standard kit, a little bit more for HD. They do look nice.

Seems $650 to $1000 USD is the range for decent rocker kits these days.

You could maybe try giving Woody a call at Fataz racing. I thought a while back Shaunp mentioned that Woody new a bit about 390's so he might be able to recommend something.
Shaun correct me if I am wrong.

I'm also running the Dove setup. I'm also in the same boat as Jacko when it comes to why. My engine is an angry angry animal & everything seems to work.

Yeah Woody has done a few for sure he will know exactly what to do, and will likely advise some PI heads, he has done many strokers, does all the oiling mods etc. He has done all the engines for John Samios's Galaxy's, tuff cars. Give him a call. Woody is primarily a race car engine builder, across many classes, but also does nice street engines as well and knows exactly what to build when you tell him what you want. Tell Shaun Power sent you. I'll see him this week end at QLD Raceway, if you want me to talk to him for you, assuming I get out there that is.

Thanks Shaun, Yup I spoke to Woody a few months back, but only in general terms. Seems a good guy. We really only spoke of a mild engine (Roller Cam) with standard CID. Only thing is I've decided to do my own build (I like building engines) and don't like wasting peoples time. But then I suppose if I bought them off him it would be OK. I'll check out his website again and see if there are any hints as to what he uses and failing that give him another call sometime.
I've got some excellent books and some good recent articles on building 390's and the parts are easy enough to get, but theres no substitute for good advice of those who have done it before...
