heres how much clearance you have when the headers are installed.

even the 428 cj manifolds need to be installed while the engine is bolted to the trans and it is around 6 inches above the engine mounts.

Yes I've heard that, and seen photos of the install. Can see why doing the tower notching can be useful! Looking forward to fitting the engine!
