Looking to reuse the OEM Carlite on a current project.

The glass is in "OK" shape, but would like to try to clean it up. have seen info on polishing. O'Brien was no help. Anyone know a Brisbane based company that does restoration to older galss and might be able to look at it and maybe "buff" it a bit to remove some really stubborn grime and freshen it up a bit?

Let your paint shop have a go at it.
I've polished glass with normal car polish before. Works quite well.

I used my original rear window, but bought a new front one. Rear one has some scratches... one day I'll try and get them out with polish.

Let me know how you get on, my rear screen is damaged where some loser has it with a sander in the past

If anyone wants to have a go themselves, i have some spare 3000 grit 6" velcro backed sanding discs that are great for polishing anything

The word "swims" upside-down is still "swims".

They do it for $220 per. Not cheap, but that is pickup and deliver or on-site.

They do not do chip repair.

I found this on a reply on another site and an contempalting testing it on something less rare than the OEM glass...

May be a bit hard to get but we used to use Jewellers Rouge to polish scratches out of glass. Comes in a paste form and fairly easy to use.
Seemed to do the job okay on large sheets of bullet proof glass which were located in the control room of the Battle Training Facility of one of my old units. It had plenty of strikes from frags and wayward bullets.

I've still got the Oem glass in the rear of my FB. It's badly scratched. I'm going to call Kirsten from Scratchlessglass.com.au at the Sunshine Coast and see what they can do without removing the glass.

I have tried a ceramic top polish which works very well on light scratches. I used to use it on photocopier glass a million years ago. Deeper scratches are a bigger challenge though.

I spoke to her a week or so ago, out of the car is preferred, but they "can" do it in the car....
