I have just fitted my rear wheels ( 235*40*17 ) and they are rubbing on the lip of the inner guard on the quarter panel ( both sides, but right is worst ).

I like the way the car sits and I dont want to raise it.
Im looking for a reputable mobile guy in Sydney who will come to my home and roll the lips for me ( sounds a bit kinky, but you know what I mean ).

Can anyone recommend someone to me, please?

Thumbs Up Thanks Thumbs Up

Hey mate.
Have not heard of them. I would just make sure they have insurance that will cover you if they screw it up.

The inner guards have now been rolled by Sydney Guard Rolling. Nelson did a top job and only charged $60 per corner.
The tyres dont rub any more

Ive got 17x8 on the rear and the backspace is 4.25".
Im running a Lincoln Versailles 9 inch and its 57.5" in length. The fattest rubber I could fit was a 235. I believe the extra 0.50" is the culprit.

And who said, " size doesn't matter"

Thanks mate from what i can see in a trial fit without my diff in , there isnt much more room with a 235 anyway and it would have to be a carefully measured diff cut to get a 245 in.
So do you have the 4.25 bs on the front aswell or are they 7" rims? Its the front im worried about getting the 17x8 x 4.5bs in

So what your saying is if your backspace was 4.75" it would have fitted the 235's without rolling the guards.

That would be about right, this is on a 66 , 67 up can fit bigger tyres. He also has a wider than std diff which would be the reason.

I'm looking to go 235s on the rear(235x45x17) on an 8 inch streeter and (215x45x17)on a 7 inch streeter. Rang to order them last week and the dude must of had a sh7t day coz he wasn't happy to do a deal. Stated wheels were 2 weeks away and that was the final price, take it or leave it!!!, so I'm thinkin about it.

Cheers.

I've got 17 x 8 front and back, with a shelby drop 1 3/8", 234/45x17 rear and 215/45x17 front, mages have 4.75" backspace, almost perfect. Few of these cars are perfectly straight after all these years. They fit very well and I haven't rolled the rears but with passengers in the rear I did get the odd rub on the right (off side), so I had the mag machined a further 5mm, and it totally eliminated the problem. On the front, I have such a big drop the whilst it never rubbed in normal driving, it would sometimes scape the tyre on a driveway entry, so I eventually rolled the front. I wouldn't have needed that if I had less of a drop, but I can do everything with the car and I'm very happy with the look.

Hope that helps.
.
